Dean Weston
I’ve always been a values-driven human. I believe that values are part of the moral code that guides our actions and defines who we are. They are what we consider important, the things that matter to our well-being and happiness.
So, it’s no surprise that I also believe in the importance of company values, of providing a common purpose that all employees can understand, work towards, and live by.
Progress Fire Co.’s values are at the core of everything we do. From the moment we pick up the phone through to the consultation, design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of our fire service systems, our core values are woven into the fabric of our business.
Recently, we decided to review our company values to ensure they accurately reflected our ever-changing world. We also created a new strategic plan, with these values at its core.
Progress Fire Co. previously had three company values: relationships, trust, and integrity.
While these three values remain incredibly important (and are covered off in our seven new values), we realised that we were missing a few from the list.
I’m proud to reveal Progress Fire Co.’s seven new company values, and why they are so important to our business, our team, our culture, our clients, and our strategic plan for growth.
Progress Fire Co. values agility. It’s a company that can easily change direction, renew itself, adapt quickly to challenges, and succeed in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment.
Progress Fire Co. values professionalism, a powerful quality that allows the company and its people to deliver to the best of its ability. Professionalism involves consistently delivering to the highest of standards, and at its core comprises integrity, accountability, respect, honesty, and trustworthiness.
Progress Fire Co. is committed to practicing gratitude – one of its core values. A culture of gratitude plays a crucial role in the Progress Fire Co. workplace, and is practiced with its people, clients, and industry partners.
Progress Fire Co. values integrity, the practice of incorporating ethical behaviours throughout all facets of its business. Integrity, a commitment to being honest and having strong moral principles, in business is an essential ingredient for sustainable, long-term, business growth and success.
Progress Fire Co. is committed to consistently delivering the highest quality service and products to its client base, not just satisfying their needs but consistently surpassing them.
Progress Fire Co. treats every client as a trusted partner, with collaboration and open communication essential to creating mutually beneficial business relationships. This commitment to collaboration is also fostered internally within the team.
Progress Fire Co. is known as a reliable provider of fire safety services to the construction industry. As a business, it places great importance on delivering the brief on budget and on time.
Our next step is making sure we focus on making these values live and breathe in our business, and we already have a plan in place. Watch this space.

By Dean Weston I’ve talked a lot about Progress Fire Co.’s new company values of late – agility, professionalism, gratitude, integrity, quality, collaboration, and reliability. We recently created a new strategic plan for Progress Fire Co., and as part of this process, we reviewed and updated our vision statement.
Dean Weston Last weekend, while enjoying the sunshine, working in the yard, I let my mind wander to some of the incredible developments I’ve had the pleasure to work on during my career in fire services and safety, which has spanned several decades. It was great to take a trip down memory lane, as it’s […]
